A Peaceful Morning Above Bozeman

In early June of 2017, I spent the night on Mount Baldy in the Bridger Range above Bozeman, Montana. I was immersed in a personal project—one of those times where the process itself is the reward. Just before sunrise, I captured a frame that still resonates deeply with me: looking over the Gallatin Valley toward the Spanish Peaks as golden light spilled across the land.

It’s in these early morning hours, whether at home before my family wakes or out on the trail breathing in the crisp air, that I feel most grounded. Everything is still. Everything is real.

The Valley of Flowers

This land is rich with meaning. A quote from the Montana State University website shares a beautiful piece of history:

“There must be no war in the Valley of Flowers, all must be peace, rest and love.”

This valley was once a sacred neutral ground for many Native tribes—the Blackfeet, Crow, Nez Perce, Bannock, Flathead, and Snake. They set aside conflict here. There was respect. There was unity.

That spirit inspires my work.
